Shirley Batts, PTA
Since her graduation from Kellogg Community College in 1974, Shirley has worked in areas of wound care, inpatient rehabilitation, employee health, and outpatient orthopedics. She joined Rehabilitation Works in 1998 and works primarily out of our Gull Road office. She is well versed in a variety of diagnoses and treatment approaches
Marlise DeShane, OTR
Having graduated from Western Michigan University in 1991 with a BS in Occupational Therapy, Marlise specializes in pediatrics. She obtained her certification in Sensory Integration and Praxis Testing in 2001. Along with training in Therapeutic Listening, she has extensive experience treating individuals with sensory processing disorders and autistic spectrum diagnoses. She joined Rehabilitation Works in 2004.
Brandi Fyke, MA, CCC/SLP
Brandi is a Speech/Language Pathologist who graduated from Michigan State University in 1998. She joined our practice in 2004 after initial years of practice in the South. She has significant experience treating pediatrics in the areas of language, articulation and overall communication. She also has experience treating individuals who have had strokes or traumatic brain injuries.
Roxanne Griscott, PTA
Roxanne graduated from Brown Mackie College in South Bend, Indiana in February 2008. She joined Rehabilitation Works in August of 2008 as a physical therapy assistant. In addition to her position here, she volunteers to work with developmentally disabled children. Roxanne is currently continuing her education to become a Physical Therapist.
Pam Holman, PTA
Pam worked locally in this area after graduating from Kellogg Community College in 1997. She joined us in 2001 and has expanded her expertise to include myofascial training. Working primarily at the Gull Road location, she is involved with the expansion and development of our Women's Health Program.
Deb Howard, PTA
Deb has worked in the southwest Michigan area since her graduation from Kellogg Community College in 1977. She also obtained a BBA degree from Nazareth College in 1981 and a MPA in Healthcare Administration at WMU in 1994. In addition to being a licensed physical therapy assistant, she has administered nursing homes and worked as a consultant for practice management. Deb joined Rehabilitation Works in 1995 and has geared her energy toward a significant amount of continuing education in myofascial release. She uses the Barnes approach with myofascial release and craniosacral therapy techniques and has worked as a clinical instructor at Barnes's Seminars; she also uses Barrel's approach to visceral manipulation. Loves dogs and horses and has been known to use her myofascial skills with horses.
Lori Johnson Davis, OTR, MSOT
Having graduated from Pacific University in 1993 with a BS, and from Western Michigan University in 2006 with a MS, Lori joined Rehabilitation Works in 2005. She is a Licensed Occupational Therapist treating Pediatric clients for Sensory Processing Disorder, Cranial Sacral treatment, Therapeutic Listening, Brain Gym technique. She has experience in private clinics, school systems and early intervention home care. Lori volunteers for a Program for Special Skiers, Parent Teacher Student Organization and as a coach for Girls on the Run/Track.
Annette Leon, COTA
Annette graduated from Grand Rapids Community College in 2004 with an Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy. She followed this with extensive continuing education credits in sensory processing disorders, autistic spectrum disorder, oral motor/feeding techniques, PLAY/Floortime techniques and developing sensory diet programs. After working with emotionally impaired students in the public schools, Annette joined Rehabilitation Works in 2006. She works closely in conjunction with the OTR's on staff carrying her own case load. She is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for the State of Michigan, and volunteers for "Nose to Toes" and Birth Center classes. Annette educates medical professionals on Sensory Processing Disorders.
Stephanie Madden, PT
Stephanie graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1989. She has worked in Indiana, Wisconsin, and in this area, in various settings including acute care, outpatient, and home health. She came to our practice in 2001 and specializes in pediatrics as well as neurologically involved patients. She continues to pursue continuing education for specialized neurologic treatment of the pediatric and adult population, as well as manual techniques.
Therese Miller, PT
After graduating from St. Louis University in 1986, Therese has worked in a variety of areas, including home health. She joined us in 2004 and heads up in our outpatient orthopedic/sports program at the Gull Road location. She has become well versed in kinesiotaping techniques, spine and joint rehabilitation and loves being challenged with creating stabilization programs for hypermobile cheerleaders. She is an avid skier and helps out with the Special Needs Skiers program at Timber Ridge.
Anita Ollila, PT, CLT
Anita has been locally involved in pediatrics since her graduation from the University of Michigan in 1976. She worked in an inpatient setting and the school systems until joining Rehabilitation Works in 1986. In the last several years, she has worked with the multiple and diverse needs of those with developmental disabilities. Anita has significant experience in a variety of treatment techniques, ranging from myofascial release to neurodevelopmental techniques to kinesiotaping. She was certified as an Instructor in Tai Chi for Arthritis in 2005. She was also certified as a Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)/Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) therapist in 2006, by Klose Training & Consulting.
René Reminga, OTR, MSOT
René graduated from WMU with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Health, followed by a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2008. Her focus of studies has been in sensory integration techniques, Handwriting without Tears, and the DIR/Floortime model. She is experienced in treating autism, sensory processing disorders, pervasive developmental disorders, fetal alcohol syndrome and developmental delays. René joined Rehabilitation Works in 2009.
Joanne Ferguson Simoneaux, OTR
Joanne graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. She specialized in pediatrics for 35 years, working in the Grand Rapids and Allegan Intermediate school districts. Joanne has extensive training in child development and received certification as a Trauma and Loss School Consultant. She received the Jane Scandary Award for Early Childhood Special Needs in 2002 and was recognized by Governer Engler for this award. She was also nominated as Therapist of the Year by the Ambucs Association in 2003. Joanne has also trained in sensory integration, neurological developmental disorders, and in infant and child massage.
Cyndi Turner, PT (Magic Hands)
A graduate of Loma Linda University in 1983, joined husband Tim at Rehabilitation Works in 1987. She is located primarily at our Gull Road location. Cyndi began her career working with the prestigious Jewett Orthopedic Clinic in Orlando Florida as a physical therapy aide. They convinced her to become a physical therapist. Just out of school she worked with inpatient orthopedics and trauma in Florida. After marrying Tim she moved to Michigan and started working with neurologically involved patients with spinal cord injuries, closed head injuries/Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and strokes. She advanced quickly to the senior staff-supervisor level but missed patient care. She joined her husband Tim, and Anita Ollila in private practice 1987. Her career has continued to include a variety of different paths.
Learning Spinal manipulation with Stanley Paris at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, and osteopathic manipulation at Michigan State, Spinal stabilization and strengthening using San Francisco Back School, core stabilization and several Mackenzie courses, she brings to her patients an eclectic approach to spine Rehabilitation. Not getting the results she wanted she continued her education to include Janet Travell's Myofascial Trigger Points, Temporal Mandibular Joint dysfunction and /Cranial Sacral courses.
This work really helped with her approach to TBI patients, patients with migraines/stress headaches. Then she got the call from University of MI about needing a PT in Kalamazoo that would be willing to work with pelvic problems. That started her down the road to taking almost every Woman's Health/ Pelvic course available, completed APTA requirement for certification achievement in Pelvic Pain. Now with over 10 years of experience in pelvic rehabilitation she now works with incontinence issues, pelvic pain, muscle dysfunction, pudenal neuralgia, and interstitial cystitis (IC). This program includes treatment for men with a "Headache In the Pelvis" or post-prostatectomy issues.
Cyndi's free time is spent with her kids and painting. She loves to travel especially to warm tropical places, and she enjoys almost all water sports.
Tim Turner, PT
Tim graduated from Loma Linda University in California in 1983. After working at a local inpatient facility, he came to Rehabilitation Works in 1986. His focus has mainly been working with orthopedic patients primarily shoulders, knees and hips. However, he is one of the area most experienced therapist in back care and utilizes the knowledge his gained from years of continuing education. Being in private practice he has had to be well versed in all areas of physical therapy and has significant experience in treating a variety of patients, including neurologic and spinal cord injuries. He loves downhill skiing and spending time with family.
Dawn Welch, MAPT
Dawn graduated from U of M in 1965 with a BS in physical therapy, and from MSU in 1977 with a Master's in Education. Her specialty is working with infants and children and has advanced training in Brachial Plexus Injuries, Juvenile Arthritis, and Neurologic disorders in children. She has worked in the Netherlands, London, California, Lansing, Michigan, and came to Rehabilitation Works in 2008.

Kim Henning, Massage Therapist
Kim completed the Advanced Massage Therapy Program, Clinical internship at IMC (Florida Based). She also has 18 years as a Therapeutic Riding Instructor. As a massage therapist, she works with special needs patients, MFR, sport massage, deep tissue massage, cranial technique, gait assessment and a wide variety of soft tissue challenges and muscle tightness. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and volunteers for 4-H, R.E.I.N. Therapeutic Riding, and at the Kalamazoo Nature Center. She came to Rehabilitation Works in 2001.

Jerry Ragen, Finance Manager
Jerry Ragen, Finance Manager, joined Rehabilitation Works in 2000. He received a BA from Western Michigan University, followed by numerous education courses completed as a postgraduate. Jerry participates in community and church activities with his wife Janie. They enjoy travel, golf, and time with children and grand kids.
Rachael Stender, Billing Department Manager
Working in administration and billing department manager, has been with Rehabilitation Works since 2001. She received her Bachelor's in Healthcare Management from Spring Arbor University in 2002. Rachael enjoys her time with her two children, Emma and Tyler, playing soccer and is an avid reader.
Kelie Wade, Receptionist
Kelie Wade, receptionist at the Balch Street office, came to Rehabilitation Works in 1996. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University. Kelie has two grown children and two grandchildren, Delaney and Carter. She is a golfer, and enjoys summer days gardening, reading and playing bridge.

Linda Cross, medical transcriptions, divides her time between the Balch Street and Gull Road offices, since 2002. She is a graduate of Michigan State University. Linda grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is a graduate of Michigan State University.
